BAND OF THE YEAR

Probably the first great band to come out of Birmingham in a long time. More to the point, every single one of the seven tracks they’ve released this year has been fantastic. They’re not doing anything massively new, but there’s just the right combination of raw enthusiasm and subtle non-standard touches in their music (check: the house pianos in “Wraith”, the wonderful cooing backing vocals on pretty much everything) to make it feel genuinely exciting. Match it all up with a spot-on, artfully distracted live show, and – without wishing to employ NME-esque levels of hype - you’ve got a band with the potential to release a brilliant debut next year.

So Mumzy Stranger is a pretty awesome guy im in love with his music (check him out) and when i asked him a question i didn’t even expect an answer but i did! basically i asked ‘Who influenced you to make music?’ he replied saying ‘no one influenced m, but the day I realized I could sing I influenced myself’ even if this was a weird question im just grateful he answered it :) MWAH!
